1. What is the best advice ever received?
My mom once told me: “Money may not be yours, but time always is!”. You have time and you choose how to spend it. Choose wisely and respect your own choices, even when taking time for yourself. As you learn to unclutter your life by eliminating non-priorities, you free up your time to focus on what matters to you.
2. What gets you out of bed every morning?
The thought that I can have a positive impact on the world: first, by being a role model and mentor for other girls from low-income families. I know I couldn’t have gotten to where I am today without the help of other inspiring women telling me that with the right amount of perseverance, curiosity and readiness to learn, everyone can aim high. Also, working towards OroraTech’s vision of preserving human lives and biodiversity. Bearing in mind the latest Amazon wildfire news, my team works very hard on the first automated wildfire detection and monitoring solution from space.
3. What are your next milestones?
Company-wise, my next big milestone is securing a Post-Seed investment for our NewSpace and Impact start-up OroraTech: it is still quite difficult for me to have my voice heard as a female executive within the mainly male-dominated space industry or between tech-investors who are twice my age. Therefore, my next professional step includes investing further in my personal growth by working with experienced coaches and positioning myself as a keynote speaker and writer to bring more diversity to tech, as well as start-up events.
4. What is your best analog moment?
One of my best analog moments this year has been hiking through the Brazilian rainforest. Experiencing this untouched nature and impressive wildlife left a lasting impression on me. I’ve realized once more how important it is to protect the diversity of nature.
