Financial Shero of the Week

10 questions for Denisa Scundea, social media consultant

1.  What did you buy with your first self-earned money?

At the time I was 18 and bought myself a watch. Even though I was still in school and had no idea that one day I will have something to do with personal branding and social media, I intuitively knew that this item was going to make a statement. It was going to represent my mindset. It was not an expensive one, but all that mattered to me it was that I should never forget that even if it’s a Rolex or a no-name watch brand, they all show the time. For all of us. And time is limited.

2.  What tools do you use to organize your finances?

My bank app which has integrated financial planning.

3.  Do you own stocks or funds?

Not yet.

4.  If we gave you 1000 Euros, what would you do with the money?

I would use the money to advertise my newest project. A few weeks ago, I initiated the Female Founders Office. As a freelancer and social media agency owner I know that only 15.1% of the founders in Germany are female. Therefore, I rented an office space and decided to help other female entrepreneurs by giving them the possibility to be my co-workers – for a very low monthly budget, all inclusive. This is half the price that the rental market in Munich offers, because: be the change you want to see in the world. Without my amazing cooperation partners FriendsFactory on whose premises the office is located, or BoConcept who cooperated with me for the interior design, this couldn’t exist as it does today.

5.  What is worth spending (a lot of) money on?

Books. Seminars. Anything that has to do with your education. And of course, traveling and learning more about other cultures.

6.  Have you ever forgotten your PIN?

Oh yes, many times.

7.  How do you pay: card or digital?

Both. Depends on the occasion.

8.  Last major purchase?

My private university degree in social media management. I am not a friend of debt, so I paid cash.

9.  The last time you managed to resist the impulse to buy – and what was it?

Actually it was a ticket for a trip to Norway (again, I just visited twice last year but I’ve fallen in love with the country) just a few weeks ago. But then I decided to invest in my business. Norway is not running away.

10.  What is priceless?

Haha, so this question kind of reminds me of the first one…Well I guess you know the answer: time. Time spent with the right people in life. Family or friends. Even strangers who have a positive impact are so much worth. I guess everything you do that helps you evolve or makes you happy is worth more than anything in the world.
