Female Entrepreneur of the Future: Julia Labella, the Natural Nutritional Supplement Expert

The Female Entrepreneurs of the Future program by amazon is running full speed. We talked to three candidates about what they’ve learned and where they see themselves in one year. This week it's Julia Labella, the founder of impact mommy

Your business model in a few sentences?

impact mommy is the first nutritional supplement for women, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women with natural, sustainable packaging made of recyclable cardboard, cork, and glass. We only use natural ingredients and herbal products for the capsules. For each package sold, we also plant two trees with our partners in Madagascar. Our slogan is “One tree for you, one tree for your baby.”

What are the key things you’ve learned?

The first aha moment was realizing that online trade has come to stay. The sustainability scene tends to view this sceptically, but even if it’s important locally and regionally, you can’t avoid e-commerce. The question that comes to my mind is, “How can you do this even better and which partners do you choose?” The UDZ program has opened my eyes and taken me a long way forward. There are so many ways to professionalize your business! What also excited me was the coaching and networking. It’s great to be part of a team, to support each other, to exchange know-how, to collaborate. It worked great from the very first day.

What are you implementing immediately?

I can’t say that about only one thing – we’ve optimized a lot, and, crucially, we’ve registered my brand.

Where do you see yourself in a year?

We want to completely revolutionize the dietary supplement market. Food supplements should be treated like food and meet high standards. Unfortunately, this is not yet happening, everything is packed in aluminium or plastic cans. We want to change that. We want to show that things can get better. We will also be expanding our product range by the end of the year.
