“Life is simply too short to eat badly,” says IT manager Kristina Grasmann. It is also the slogan for her (German-language) food blog POTT.lecker (www.pottlecker.de), which deals with pubs and bars in the Ruhr area and is where she also posts her favorite recipes. The ingredients for her dishes come from her own field where she grows her vegetables on the outskirts of Bochum. “It’s a wonderful balance after a stressful day in the office.”
Kristina works as a computer scientist and IT consultant at the IT service provider adesso. She heads a competence center for projects in the public sector and is responsible for the public sector business development of the company in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). She is also involved in the “She for IT” initiative at adesso, which the company launched in 2019 to get more women interested in IT professions. At the moment the proportion of female IT employees in Germany is approximately 17%. adesso wants to change this and Kristina supports her company as a female IT manager and role model for young women. When adesso presented the campaign to the public in May together with patron Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the national coach of the German women’s national soccer team, Kristina was present as spokeswoman.
But she has already achieved the goal – the competence center boasts a female quota of 50%.
