5 Learnings from Jennifer Schwade

by Bettina Bendig

Germany's first Changemaker Chats were successfully launched some time ago! Jennifer Schwade, the Founder and CEO of shape me GmbH, shared her experiences. Read about her 5 valuable learnings

If you want to launch a business, try to find another female entrepreneur as a mentor! It’s very valuable to get insights from someone who had the same challenges e.g. when talking to investors and who can help you prepare for that.

Having your own start-up, there will be a lots of ups and downs. In oder to cope with the emotional rollercoaster, you must have strong willpower and perserverance. Also, make sure you have a strong support system, e.g friends, husband and dog.

Jennifer always reminds herself to ask the question ‘What’s the worst thing that could happen?’ so she does not get too worked up when challenges arise.

Having lived in many countries, she noticed that failure is still seen as something negative in Germany compared to other countries. She embraces ‘learning by failing’. Her first start-up failed, but instead of quitting she pivoted and changed the business model to the successful platform shape me is today.

Women have a great gut instinct when it comes to business ideas, but at the same time we question ourselves more. Trust your instinct and don’t be afraid of using it!
