Socializing at work

Last Sunday we had a little chat about socializing at work. We asked you whether you prefer to keep your distance or get up close and personal at work; whether you think getting to know your colleagues on a personal level helps or actually harms your career; if you find it important to have team-building measures outside of the work place; and whether or not it is a good idea to be friends with a superior.

Results show: The majority of 74% prefer a personal atmosphere, as opposed to 26% who prefer a distant one. At the same time almost all participants (96%) agreed that getting to know your co-workers on a personal level helps your career rather than hurt it. Which is why it does not come as a surprise that a high percentage of people (87%) believe it to be important to have team-building measures outside of the work place, while the minority of 13% find these measures unnecessary. When it comes to befriending a superior, almost three quarters (74%) of those asked believe it is a good idea, and 26% would not dream of it.
